Hi, I’m Carol Anne
My signature gifts are a blend of grounded wisdom and insightful guidance along with a healthy sense of humor – because life transitions are hard enough without taking ourselves too seriously. I create safe, welcoming spaces where people can look inward, reconnect with who they truly are and step into their next chapter with clarity and ease.
My educational journey includes a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, and a B.A. in Speech Communication from UNC-Chapel Hill. In recent years, I became certified as a professional coach, a Subtle Yoga instructor, and a long time teacher of chair yoga for older adults. In 2025 I joined the Charlotte Center for Mindfulness and facilitated a year-long “spiritual friendship” group on self-compassion, and I am convinced I received more than I gave. I am also a certified InterPlay leader, helping people reconnect with their mind, body and spirit through playful body wisdom. Over the years, my career has taken many forms: serving churches as a solo pastor, associate minister, and interim minister; working with an end-of-life organization as a chaplain, grief counselor, and community educator; and later stepping out on my own to offer presentations on healthy aging, caregiver support, spirituality at the end of life, and related topics. Most recently, I served as Minister of Spiritual Wellness at Southminster Community before retiring at the end of 2024. I incorporate my workshops based on my personal experiences, as I am also a caregiver.
I continue to challenge myself by taking yoga classes in which I am the oldest person in the room and have recently joined the throngs that play Pickle Ball. I am married to Ken, have two adult children of whom I am immensely proud and have a dog named Rowan who tests my patience every day.
Why Next Wave Rising?
I have always felt most grounded at the shore, standing before the vastness of the ocean with its simple beauty; including its sights, sounds, and steady movements. The large expanse of sky, the rhythm of the waves and the sand beneath my feet make me feel connected to something larger than myself. I am also reminded we are not truly alone and everyone yearns for connection, for being seen and for feeling understood.
As we enter a new season of life, whether as caregivers, retirees, or simply people asking, “what now?” we all need space to discover what our next season might be. And in my experience, the best way to find out is together. Next Wave Rising provides transformative workshops designed for those navigating life’s transitions and address the significant emotional and psychological shifts we experience ~ one wave at a time.
